- CFIN follows your device or browser's light/dark setting by default
- An in-app toggle, where offered, overrides that just for CFIN
- Dark mode is a genuine black background, not a simple colour inversion
By default, CFIN follows your device or browser's own light/dark appearance setting on every redesigned page. Where an in-app toggle is offered, you can also set your preference directly inside CFIN, overriding your device setting just for the product.
Switching your appearance
- Change your device or browser's appearance setting, or use CFIN's in-app toggle where available.
- Redesigned pages in CFIN should switch along with it straight away.
- On iPhone or iPad, use Settings > Display & Brightness to choose Automatic, Light or Dark.
Checking it works
If you switch your device's appearance setting, redesigned pages in CFIN should switch along with it, including the correct true-black background and dark cards in dark mode, rather than a simple colour inversion.
What you need to do
If a particular page still looks unfinished in one mode, it most likely hasn't been migrated to the new design yet.
In detail
- Most browsers and operating systems let you set light, dark, or "follow system" appearance in their own settings.
- Where CFIN offers its own in-app toggle, it overrides your device setting just for CFIN.
- Dark mode uses a genuine black background with distinct dark cards, not a simple inverted colour scheme.
A fully supported choice
If you use CFIN across multiple devices, it's worth checking each one's appearance setting separately, since "follow system" on a phone and a fixed preference on a desktop browser can genuinely disagree.
Dark mode is a fully supported, equally reviewed experience here, not a secondary option. If dark mode ever looks slightly different between two pages, that's a useful signal that one of them is still on its way to the new design rather than fully migrated yet.
