Between 23 September and 4 October, Project Iris went through twenty-one updates on the live trading account. This post lists each one at the moment it went live, meaning the moment the new version started trading, not when the code was written or approved. All times are UTC.
The aim of all this work was simple: not fewer trades, but better managed ones. Most of the changes are about how a trade is sized, how its stop moves, and how recovery legs behave. The other posts in this series explain each area in plain language, with diagrams.
Updated 11 October 2026. The weekday names in the first version of this post were wrong for 2026 (for example, 23 September 2026 is a Wednesday). The dates and UTC times were always right. We have corrected the names here and in both timeline diagrams.
23 to 26 September
- Wed 23 Sep, 11:23. The distance a gold trade has to travel before its stop moves to break-even went back to its earlier setting. A one-week trial with an earlier break-even had done worse, so it was rolled back.
- Thu 24 Sep, 05:04. A large batch of fixes went out together. A closed trade no longer stops the next one on the same instrument from opening. Orders that are waiting to fill no longer count against margin. A trailing stop can never be moved further away from price. The levels that place recovery legs are now read only from completed price bars, never from the bar still forming.
- Thu 24 Sep, 08:49. The recovery ladder is now sized against the same budget it is checked against, so the two can no longer disagree.
- Thu 24 Sep, 12:01. Restart safety. When the engine restarts during the day, it now rebuilds the day's allowance from the broker's own records. Before this fix, a same-day restart could leave the allowance empty, and that morning no new trades were opened for several hours.
- Fri 25 Sep, 04:15. Exposure now counts only what can still lose. A trade whose stop is locked at break-even or better no longer counts as exposure, which frees room for other trades. A recovery leg that belongs to a trade still at risk can no longer be removed. Gold trades moved to a fixed risk per trade, with the lot following the stop (family shares replaced this on 2 October).
- Fri 25 Sep, 07:32. A second restart fix: an allowance that has not been funded for the day can never be used. Between 04:15 and 07:32 the engine again opened no new trades. Open trades kept their stops throughout.
- Fri 25 Sep, 09:11. Early exit after a recovery. In a ranging market, once a recovery leg has filled and price is back past the average entry price, the stop locks at break-even straight away instead of waiting for the normal break-even distance.
- Fri 25 Sep, 11:05. Break-even now arms a little later on a lone index or FX trade, so ordinary market noise does not close it too early. Commission on both the opening and the closing side now counts towards break-even.
- Fri 25 Sep, 19:27. Daily limits now read one clock, so the end of the trading day falls at the same moment for every part of the engine.
- Sat 26 Sep, 22:26. A trade's planned recovery now survives a restart. The French index and the yen pairs, which had been sized in the wrong family, are now sized in their own.
29 September to 4 October
- Tue 29 Sep, 01:09. More room at the same risk. For gold and indices, recovery legs are now spaced wider and the lot is smaller, so the amount at stake at the stop does not change. No new entries on Friday afternoons: new trades stop well before the weekly close, and entry orders that have not filled are removed soon after. Recovery legs of open trades are not touched.
- Wed 30 Sep, 19:31. Index trades now have a trailing stop that follows the best price reached, not only completed bars.
- Wed 30 Sep, 23:37. No capital cap. Sizing now uses your full balance minus what is in the vault. A first caution mode started tightening open trades before high-impact news. Some FX break-even stops had been refused because a cost was counted twice; they can now be placed.
- Thu 1 Oct, 00:09. An FX order removed because another open position already carried the same currency is now placed again once that position has closed. Gold trades are sized on the exact stop the order carries.
- Thu 1 Oct, 04:31. Keep the stop, re-add the leg. When a trade's stop is pulled in, its planned last recovery leg is still placed, as long as it fits inside the stop.
- Thu 1 Oct, 05:19. A break-even stop is never undone. If a stop loosens for any other reason, the trade gets its recovery leg back.
- Thu 1 Oct, 07:55. The daily end-of-session close now applies to every family without exception. Open trades and their recovery orders are closed shortly before the instrument's trading day ends.
- Thu 1 Oct, 11:12. Recovery depth is now decided per trade from the market read, with the same rule for gold, indices and FX. Each FX range trade places two orders, one on each side of the range. The second of these orders is no longer blocked by a short cooldown that the first one set.
- Fri 2 Oct, 18:05. The largest update of the series. Each family now has its own starting share of one daily allowance, and nothing is reserved. Open trades tighten gradually before major news, and several events at once tighten more. A brief spread spike is ignored. A gold reversal trade now needs a confirmed reading of the higher-timeframe trend.
- Sun 4 Oct, 09:33. FX range trades are redrawn. The stop now sits at the far edge of the range, where the opposite order was, and recovery starts from the middle of the range. The entry is sized on the stop and ladder that are actually placed.
- Sun 4 Oct, 13:51. Smaller entries before major news. A new trade in an instrument affected by an upcoming high-impact release is now made somewhat smaller, and the closer the release, the smaller it is. It uses a gentler version of the curve that already tightens open trades, and it only ever makes a trade smaller.
Looked at, and not done
- Freezing all stops in the last minutes before a news release. Stops keep moving through releases. The protection against the wide spreads around a print is that a brief spread spike is ignored.
- A limit on the whole trading day, such as stopping after a set gain, or giving back only part of the day's peak. We replayed several versions against recent real trades. None did better than the existing rules, so none were added.
- Faster break-even and trailing on index trades. A milder version was replayed and did not hold up, so index exits stayed as they are.
The replays above were run on past trades. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results, so a rule that did well in a replay is a reason to try it, not a promise that it will keep doing well.
What you need to do
Nothing. Updates go live on the engine itself, and the stops on open trades stay with the broker while a new version starts. If anything in your dashboard looks different from what is described here, Support can look into it.

- Times are when each version started trading on the live account. They are taken from the engine's own deploy records and checked against its build log.
